Autumn is here but the Fun Doesn’t have to End

First Day of Autumn – Speedyreg

It’s been a pretty good summer, we’ve had some lovely weather and it’s been a great time to get out and about showing off our personalised number plates and having a fun time with the family, so what are you going to do now? Are you going to give in to the colder weather, and spend the next few months in front of the TV, only venturing out in the car for those journeys you really have to do such as getting to work and dropping the kids off at school?

Don’t let autumn get you down

When you’re cooped up in the house all through autumn it can really dampen your spirits. So don’t give in to autumn, don’t let the weather dictate what you do. There are still some great things to do over the next few months, so just wrap up warm and get out there! You’ll have the added bonus of all the beautiful autumn leaves to admire on your journey, so get out in the countryside and take your camera too. Family days out don’t need to stop just because summer is at an end.

Visit an arboretum

This is perhaps the best time of year to take a trip to an arboretum. The summer crowds will have dissipated, so you can have a peaceful stroll amidst the red, orange and gold of the multitude of trees. You can even take a picnic, just pack a flask of coffee to warm you up.

Go to a car show

There are still some fabulous car shows going over autumn and into the winter. Malvern Festival of Transport takes place on October 13th with over 400 vehicles on display, an autojumble and plenty of hot food and drinks available. The season finale of Truckfest, Europe’s biggest trucking festival is being held in Newark on the 5th and 6th of October and the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show will be at the Birmingham NEC from the 8th to the 10th of November.

Summer attractions without the crowds

While some big attractions close down over the winter months, many stay open over the autumn and you can take advantage of the lower crowd levels as long as you don’t mind being a little cooler. When you’re busy having fun, you don’t even notice it’s a little cold anyway!

Time to plan for next summer

This is also a great time to make some plans for next summer. Are you going to jet off overseas, or perhaps have a staycation and discover some parts of this wonderful country that you’ve never visited before. It’s also a good time to start looking for your next personalised number plate, and get it in place now ready to enjoy over the whole of next spring and summer.
