Penny for the Guy?

Yes, we’ve remembered, it’s the fifth of November, Guy Fawkes Night, which has also made us remember that we have some fantastic GUY plates for sale. While we can’t sell them for a penny, if your name is Guy, you might be pleased to hear that you can have a plate with your name on for under £500! Do you like the look of CU53 GUY, DU51 GUY or BU06 GUY? We’ve plenty more besides so do check them out on our website.

Got any fun plans?

What are you getting up to for bonfire night? It’s getting colder out, but the warmth from a bonfire will soon heat you up, if that doesn’t work, how about a nice big bag of roasted chestnuts or a glass of warm mulled wine? Of course no bonfire night would be complete without seeing a few fireworks, so perhaps you’re heading out to watch a big display?

Everything you never knew you needed to know about fireworks…

Are you one of those people who just loves useless facts? Well we never like to disappoint on that score, the Speedy Reg offices are full of pointless facts and here’s what we’ve come up with for fabulous, fascinating firework facts…

  • Blue coloured fireworks are the hardest to make.
  • After the Department of Defence, the next largest purchaser of explosives in the US is Disney World, for their fireworks of course!
  • The fear of fireworks is called kovtapyroergasoiphobia. As an aside, the fear of long words is rather cruelly called hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia.
  • Queen Elizabeth I loved fireworks so much she had special court position created for her pyrotechnist ‘Fire Master of England’. Now that’s quite some job title!
  • Be careful with those sparklers, they burn at 1800 – 3000F!
  • The world’s largest firework display had 810,904 fireworks and lasted for an hour.

Have a great night and stay safe

It’s easy to forget that fireworks can be very dangerous when we’re being beguiled by their beauty, so do stay safe tonight. Put your used sparklers in a bucket of water and never return to a firework that has failed to go off. It’s much better to wrap up warm and attend a professional public display! Don’t forget to ensure your pets are safe inside, bonfire night can be pretty traumatic for our furry friends.

Happy Bonfire Night Guys, and have fun!
