Speedyreg’s Sponsor wins the British Historic Rally 2019

We are so excited to tell you that the Speedy Reg sponsored driver Simon Webster, along with co-driver Jez Rogers has won the 2019 British Historic Rally Championships! It’s certainly a well deserved win and we are thrilled that it was the Ford Escort with the Speedy Reg logo on that sped over the finish line with the fastest time.

Before the race there were several contenders for the title so it was certainly rather tense, and Simon  admits to some nerves during the final stage. With rally driving anything can happen, so he was incredibly relieved to get to the finish line in Filey without any last minute slip up or mechanical problem.

The race started with an 11 mile run in the darkness of Dalby forest in the North Yorkshire Moors on Friday night. After a wet start to Saturday morning, the course started to dry for the race through Langdale and Staindale. A chicane in Langdale saw Bob Bean and Malcolm Smithson roll their Lotus Cortina, and it was worrying for a moment as Bean struggled to get out of the vehicle, but luckily he was not hurt. The race then moved on to the 14 mile stretch taking in Cropton and Gale Rig before the run to the finish in the seaside town of Filey.

Simon Webster’s biggest rivals in this competition have been Stanley Orr and Grahame Henderson but they have taken the defeat well with Orr commenting… “Simon’s a gentleman and he’s a very worthy champion” We have to agree, we’ve known Simon for many years now and as well as being a highly talented rally driver, he’s also a great guy and we’re very proud for our business to be associated with him and his team.

So we’d like to say a massive CONGRATULATIONS to Simon and Jez and we look forward to being involved in their next rallying endeavours!
