Do you ever have a flutter on the gee-gees?

I do like to place a little bet on the horse racing once in a while, the Grand National is a must of course. I have a friend who always seems to win. I’ve asked how they do it. Surely they have some secret system, or they do a lot of research into the history and form of all the horses. Perhaps they scrutinize the weather forecast and know which horses run best in the rain or whatever. But no, apparently they just pick a name they like!

So how come they always win and I always lose? I always pick a horse with fairly decent odds, so you’d think that once in a while I’d come up trumps and have a little success but no. My horses always seem to start out the race looking a little tired and confused. Rather like a teenager that’s just got out of bed.
