There’s just something so special about the Smart car isn’t there? Of course it’s incredibly practical for city drivers, cheap to run and easy to park, but they’re more than that, they’re iconic and well, just so cute and lots of fun! When the Smart car first hit our streets they certainly turned heads and the public was, and often still is divided. It’s the Marmite of the car world, you love them or you hate them. But even if you don’t like the looks of the classic City-Coupé or the ForTwo, the cool and sporty Smart Roadster could be the one that makes you fall in love with the Smart car.

A day to celebrate all things Smart

If you’re one of the many people who own and love a Smart car, then you need to head to the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu on Sunday 10th November. Located in the heart of the New Forest, you can join a plethora of other like-minded Smart owners in a rally through the beautiful New Forest scenery, and admire some fantastic Smart cars, some with unique and colourful wraps. Last year even saw a blue fur-clad Smart car dressed up as Sully from Monsters Inc! Attend the show and you’ll also be automatically entered into the People’s Choice Award. The winner is selected by public vote and there are prizes up for grabs. So get down to Beaulieu on Sunday 10th November to join in the fun!

Smart Car Facts

  • The name Smart comes from the joint venture to produce the vehicles between Swatch (the watch company) and Mercedes Benz. It stands for Swatch Mercedes Art.
  • Take a closer look at the Smart car logo. It consists of a letter C which stands for compact, and an arrow that represents forward thinking.
  • It takes just 7.5 hours to build a Smart car.
