Taylor’s love of music, particularly country music was clear from a very early age. At nine she took an interest in musical theatre and started taking vocal lessons. Soon theatre took a back seat, and being inspired by Shania Twain, she switched her focus to country music. Even at this young age she had talent, and regularly performed at festivals. Her dedication to her music career made her determined to go to Nashville, so with her mother, they set off to Tennessee with demo tapes to give to the Nashville record labels. Her covers of country tracks were not picked up by the labels, but she wasn’t disheartened. She was determined to be different and stand out from the crowd, so she started writing her own songs and learnt how to play guitar. Still only 12 years old, this was when her career began to take off. At 14 she was signed by Sony/ATV, the youngest person ever to be signed by the label. Her songs are from the heart and her albums have gained critical acclaim. She’s won so many awards, she’s the most awarded artist in the history of the American Music Awards. She has also received awards in recognition of her philanthropic efforts. Did you know? When Taylor was little, every day was Christmas as she lived on a Christmas tree farm! She perhaps has a computer repairman to thank for her success as he taught her to play a few chords on the guitar. Taylor loves the show CSI and once played a part in it.
