The Irish Open

The Irish open starts today in Portrush at the famous ‘Royal Portrush course.’ All week the best golfers from the world have been gathering in Portrush to play the first European Tour event in Northern Ireland and the first time since 1953 that the Irish Open will be played in Northern Ireland.

The 36-hole club has two links courses, the Dunluce Links and the Valley Links. In 1951, Royal Portrush hosted The Open Championship, the oldest of golf’s championships. The course was also ranked the fourth best course outside the United States in 2007 by Digest.

Following the recent successes of Darren Clarke, Graeme McDowell, and Rory McIlroy we will be looking for an Irish win at this prestigious course.

Our money is on Rory McIlroy and we hope that he remembers us to buy his own cherished number plate to celebrate.
