2019 Tour de France gets Underway

The 106^th Tour de France has now begun and will run until 28^th July. Last year’s winner Geraint Thomas is returning to defend his title, but there’s certainly some stiff competition from the likes of Vincenzo Nibali, Jakob Fuglsang, Rigoberto Uran and Nairo Quintana.

This year the race starts in Brussels, this is only the second time in the history of the race that this location has been chosen for The Grand Depart. On day three the race crosses over into Eastern France before heading south to Toumalet and then returning east to the finish line at the Champ-Elysees in Paris.

Sadly we won’t be seeing British cyclist Chris Froome this year due to him breaking his leg, ribs and elbow in a serious crash during training.

Watching the Tour de France

All stages will be broadcast live on ITV4 with highlights showing the evening after every stage. It will also be shown on the Welsh language channel S4C, as well as on Eurosport channels 1 and 2. Eurosport has also introduced a new interactive show called The Breakaway where fans can join in discussions about the Tour de France.
