Merry Christmas!

We’d like to take this opportunity to wish all our customers and blog readers a very merry Christmas! We hope you’re having a wonderful day, with too much food, some lovely gifts, and a smile on the faces of all your family. But even if you forgot to defrost the turkey, your best gift was a pair of socks and Granny has had too much sherry, it’s still the most wonderful time of the year and you’re making memories that you’ll never forget. This is Christmas Day 2018 and there’ll never be another one of those!

Our Christmas Gifts to You…

As well as lowering the prices of some of our very cheapest plates to the incredibly low price of just £10 plus VAT and transfer fee, we’ve gathered some fascinating facts about Christmas that are sure to make you the most interesting person around the Christmas dinner table!

  • You’ll always find robins on Christmas cards, but why? Well apparently it started as a joke, as this was a reference to the red tunics worn by postmen, who of course you tend to see a lot of at this time of year!
  • They say it’s good luck to eat a mince pie on every one of the 12 days of Christmas. Well who are we to argue?
  • The word ‘mistletoe’ actually means ‘little dung twig’ as the plant spreads via bird droppings. Not so romantic now is it? “Give me a kiss under the little dung twig darling!”
  • Carols used to be sung in all four seasons, but only the tradition of Christmas carols has survived the test of time.
  • The average UK child receives 16 presents. If yours have got less than this, it might be wise to keep this fact to yourself.
  • Over the Christmas period, 6 million rolls of sellotape are sold in the UK.
  • Apparently Christmas tree needles are a good source of Vitamin C. I think I’ll stick to turkey and the trimmings.

Now you’re equipped with everything you need to be a source of all knowledge today, so all that remains is to wish you a Very Merry Christmas from all of us here at Speedy Reg!
