It’s the 2018 QIPCO British Champions Day and it’s a Record Breaker!

With the biggest prize fund in British horse racing, the 2018 QIPCO British Champions Day is a record breaker, with winners taking away a total of £4.35 million! The race, held at Ascot is always a fabulous event and a fitting finale for the 2018 flat season.

Out of the top six horses in the entire world, four of them are set to race, including joint highest rated horse in the world, Poet’s Word and Europe’s top rated, 3 year old Alpha Centauri.

A fantastic day out

For anyone lucky enough to be attending the day, you’re in for a real treat. The opening ceremony is set to be awash with glitz and glamour and when all the races are over, the day certainly isn’t, with a fabulous After Party featuring Jax Jones and Ella Eyre.

The QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup starts at 1:25pm with a prize fund of £500,000. This 3200 metre race is a real test of stamina. Last year’s winner was Order of St George.

The QIPCO British Champions Sprint Stakes starts at 2:00pm with a prize fund of £600,000. British challengers have won this for two years running, will this be another British success? The 2017 winner was Librisa Breeze.

The Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (Sponsored By QIPCO) starts at 3:15pm with a prize fund of £1,100,000. That’s the largest prize fund for a mile of racing anywhere in Europe, and is up there with the most valuable in the entire world.  Last year’s winner was Persuasive.

The QIPCO Champion Stakes starts at 3:50pm with a huge prize fund of £1,300,000 this race is the finale of the day. Last year’s winner was Cracksman ridden by Frankie Dettori.
