Always Ascending – the New Album from Franz Ferdinand

This is the first Franz Ferdinand album since their collaborative album FFS back in 2015 so fans have been eagerly awaiting its release, and now it’s here!  Always Ascending has been produced by Philippe Zdar who has worked some big names including The Beastie Boys, Phoenix and Cassius.

So we’ve got a new album, but that’s not all the good news, the band are also going on a world tour, with lots of dates in the UK and Ireland to choose from.

Franz Ferdinand – All the Facts you Never Needed to Know…

  • Before being in the music industry, Alex Kapranos worked as a chef and a welder.
  • Their hit single Take Me Out was inspired by a graphic novel by Max Ernst called Une Semaine de Bonte.
  • The band is named after a race horse called Archduke Ferdinand, the horse was named after Archduke Franz Ferdinand who played a part in the start of World War I.
  • Several songs have a religious aspect to them because Alex studied Theology at University.
  • Alex’s surname is actually Huntley but he stopped using it due as it was the same surname as the infamous murderer Ian Huntley.
  • His middle name is Paul, named after Paul McCartney, because his mother fancied the famous Beatle!
