Colorado drivers accuse out-of-state police of license plate profiling

Since Colorado legalised the recreational use of marijuana, drivers from the state are reportedly being hounded while driving in other states, being pulled over by the police on a far greater level than before the law changes regarding marijuana.

One man has been so disturbed by his experience that he is suing the state of Idaho.  69 year old Darien Roseen, retired vice president of a billion dollar company claims he was unlawfully detained and searched for marijuana while on a road trip in Idaho. Law enforcement officers claim that  Roseen appeared to have glassy eyes and there was a smell of marijuana in the vehicle so they were trying to find the source of it. Nothing was found during the search that took several hours.

The law firm involved have had several people approach them with similar stories. It appears to be a growing problem, with other states persecuting drivers with Colorado plates. Roseen’s attourney, Mark Coonts hopes that this case will raise awareness of the problem of license plate profiling.
