DVLA plans to avoid 13 plate

DVLA plans to let superstitious motorists avoid 13 plate

We have a lot of superstitions in our culture, don’t walk under ladders, seven years bad luck if you smash a mirror and the number 13 is just unlucky in every way!

But would the number 13 stop you from buying a new car? From March 1st 2013 to August 31st 2013 the new 13 plate will be issued by the DVLA, but fears that drivers will find the 13 plate too unlucky to have on their vehicle may be given the chance to avoid it.

New plans being discussed by the DVLA could let superstitious Motorists have their vehicles registered as a 62-plate effectively keeping it the same as vehicles registered from September 1st, 2012 to February 28, 2013.

Under the DVLA’s proposal number plates would then revert back to the usual pattern – so in other words 63 registration plates will be introduced from September 1, 2013.

So would the number 13 put you off purchasing a personalised plate or brand new vehicle? Or should we throw caution to the wind and forget out superstitions?
