World Chocolate Day – Speedyreg

Christmas is great, birthdays are fun, but I think I’ve just found my new favourite day of the year. World Chocolate Day! Not that I need an excuse to eat chocolate, but it’s nice to have a special day where you’re expected to eat lots of yummy chocolate all day. It’s a day to get inventive and make your day as chocolately as possible. You can start the day with chocolate cereal, chocolate spread is the perfect sandwich filling for lunch and of course you can enjoy all your favourite chocolate bars with some keto peanut butter cookies. When it gets to evening, how about a delicious steak in chocolate sauce, followed up by a big slice of chocolate cake? Then a nice mug of hot chocolate before bed will just finish off the day nicely.

Don’t forget to share your chocolate dishes and celebrations on social media! Perhaps you could treat someone to a box of chocolates as a lovely World Chocolate Day surprise?

Learn something new about chocolate…

  • The chocolate river in the film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory was actually made with real chocolate, mixed with water and cream.
  • Chocolate chip cookies were invented by accident. They were supposed to be chocolate cookies but the chocolate chips didn’t melt properly.
  • Half of the chocolate in the world is eaten in Europe.
  • The average British person eats 11kg of chocolate each year.
  • The biggest chocolate bar in the world weighted 5,792.5kg. It was created by Thorntons to celebrate their 100th birthday.
  • Chocolate can actually kill you if you eat too much of it. Apparently eating 40 bars of Dairy Milk could deliver a fatal dose of poisonous Theobromine.

Eat chocolate and be healthier!

We think that World Chocolate Day is the one day of the year when you can overindulge in your favourite chocolate treats and not feel bad about it, but if you’re still feeling the chocolate guilt then opt for dark chocolate which actually has a lot of health benefits. it’s packed full of powerful antioxidants, it helps raise your levels of HDL (good) cholesterol and lowers your level of LDL (bad) cholesterol, it’s thought to reduce your risks of heart disease, and even boost your brain function!
