Current World Champion Lewis Hamilton takes pole position after setting a new track record, twice! This will be his 84th time on pole position. In second position is Hamilton’s team mate Valtteri Bottas with Sebastian Vettel in third for Ferrari. Vettel’s team mate Charles Leclerc puts another Ferrari in fifth position with Max Verstappen in between them for Red Bull. The race takes place at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne and is a 58 lap race. It’s an early start for those wishing to watch the race live due to the time difference between Australia and the UK. Coverage begins at 3:30am Sunday morning on Sky Sports F1 with the race starting at 5:10am. Australian Grand Prix Facts Every year the circuit takes around 290,000 hours to construct.In 2012 it was the first Grand Prix to feature six World Champions.Lewis Hamilton has taken pole position every year since 2014 but only won it once in that time in 2015. Since the Australian Grand Prix became a round in the World Championships back in 1985, an Australian driver has never achieved a position on the podium although fourth place has been won several times by Australians.
