You cannot work out the age of a car just by looking at the number plate. For those of us with older vehicles, this has two benefits. Firstly, it’s great for disguising the age of your car. If your car is getting on a bit, but it still looks good, runs well and you’re happy with it, then you can use a dateless plate to hide how old it is. Secondly, the law states that you can’t have a plate on your vehicle that makes it appear to be younger than it actually is. So is your car is a few years old, it can cut down your choices when you’re picking out a private plate. But, if you add NI plates into your search, you can choose from any of those without issue.
