It’s Birthday Time for Jay-Z!

Today we wish rapper Jay-Z a very happy birthday! He’s certainly come a long way since he was born Shawn Corey Carter on December 4^th 1969. He’s won 21 Grammy Awards, sold more than 100 million records and he’s worth an estimated 810 million dollars – wow!

His childhood nickname was Jazzy, perhaps a little cooler than Shawn, he adapted this to Jay-Z for his stage name, as a tribute to his mentor Jaz-O.

As well as his musical talents, Jay-Z is also a successful businessman, turning his hand to just about everything, from clothing to sports teams. Jay-Z is married to Beyonce making them one of Hollywood’s top earning couples.
