Katy Perry Turns 33

Singer Katy Perry celebrates her 33rd birthday on October 25th. Katy shot to fame with her second album One of the Boys that featured two of her most popular tracks; I Kissed a Girl and Hot n Cold. Katy started out singing gospel as her highly religious family did not allow popular music in the house. However, as kids will, she borrowed CDs from friends and discovered bands such as Queen. The Beatles and The Beach Boys. She states that Queens’ ‘Killer Queen’ was her inspiration to become a singer. She’s even named a perfume ‘Killer Queen’ as a tribute to the song.

Katy is known for her rather crazy fashion sense and has been dubbed The Queen of Quirk by Glamour magazine.

Katy started out her career using her own surname, Hudson. Her first album is called Katy Hudson, but she was worried about being confused with the actress Kate Hudson, so she changed her name to Perry which is her mother’s maiden name.
