Obama uses license plates

week29-post2

President Obama has lived in the District of Columbia in Washington D.C. for over four years and disagrees with the fact that working families in D.C . pay their taxes but don’t have a vote in congress. License plates in America often have a slogan or an image on, or both, and Washington D.C. is no exception. The D.C plates feature the message “Taxation Without Representation” and President Obama is now displaying these new plates on all the presidential vehicles, showing his support and commitment to the principle of full representation for the people of the District of Columbia. The main presidential car now sports the plate 800 002, along with the state name and the “Taxation without Representation” message.  This slogan has been present on Washington D.C license plates for thirteen years.

President Obama’s move to these new plates came after the Washington D.C. city council petitioned the president asking him to display the plates for his inauguration that would be broadcast to millions.

President Bill Clinton also showed his support and displayed these plates, however President George W Bush decided not to have these plates on his vehicles.
