After years of declining sales and reduced advertising revenue the ‘Trader Media Group’ who own publications such as the Auto Trader recently announced that the last edition of the Auto Trader will be published at the end of this month.

The iconic magazine has been in existence for nearly four decades and this was followed by titles such as Top Marques, Truck and Plant, Van Trader and Farm Trader; these will also cease trading in the near future.

During peak sales in 2000 the Auto Trader enjoyed an average circulation of 368,000, however this plummeted through the years and circulation sat at just 27,000 last month. The company believes this massive drop in figures is due to increased online presence and people using the internet to look at vehicles.

The final issue of the of the Auto Trader will be published on 28th June. This will be a commemorative magazine with a pull out section featuring the top 30 most popular cars over the last forty years.

Speedy Reg have enjoyed a great working relationship with the Auto Trader having advertised within it for many years and it will be sorely missed. The Auto Trader will now solely exist online. The site receives more than eleven million unique visitors each month and over three-and-a-half million access the mobile site.
