Adelaide’s Number Plates Auction is taking place today!!

Two Digit Personalised number plates can often be more expensive than most cars and have enthusiasts scrambling to get their hands on them. Four rare two-digit number plates dating to 1906 go under the hammer today in South Australia, and are thought to reach as much as $100,000 each.

The Auction which takes place today was organised by Stewart Kay who stated that the two digit black and white plates are the most popular. He is expecting a lot of Chinese Bidding, when the numbers 82 and 87 come up as they are very lucky numbers for the Chinese.

They are expecting a lot of people to request their grandparents number plates, as if they are still available they will also be included in today’s Auction .

A Transport Department spokeswoman said personalised plates were also increasingly sought after. In January, there were 94,358 customised number plates in SA, compared with 85,147 in 2009.Eleni Mitakos, who offers female-friendly car maintenance classes at her business, Galmatic, said her staff urged teens to take a more personalised approach to their car, including naming it.

“It’s a nice little touch. It makes them value their car more and take more care driving it,” she said.
