Cape Town are issuing number plates for working cart horses

All working cart horses in Cape Town are to be fitted with bright yellow identification plates from the start of this to make them more identifiable on the road.
A hundred and eighty number plates are being issued to cart horse owners at the Epping Clinic and Training Centre in an attempt to regulate the industry.
The plates aimed to make it easier for the public to report any incidents of animal abuse.
The Cart Horse Protection Association spokesperson Megan White said all unregistered animals and carts would be seized.
“For years we have wanted to achieve our vision of a regulated carting industry and this is the first step. I believe over the years we have made a huge difference,” she said.
