There are some rules you need to abide by with regards to your DVLA number plate<\/a>, so it’s a good idea to read up and know what these are before you start looking for a personalised DVLA number for your vehicle as your car will fail the MOT if you don’t have the right type of plate. You can also be fined up to \u00a31000.<\/p>\n

Firstly, the plate you choose cannot make your vehicle look newer than it is so you need to pick a year identifier that is the same or older than your vehicle. However if you do want to hide the age of your vehicle, we also have a huge range of dateless plates<\/a>, so take a look at those.<\/p>\n

You cannot alter the order of the characters on the plate, and you can’t use any other font. You also can’t change the spacing between the characters, so as tempting as it might be to move your 1 and 3 closer together so it looks more like a B, you can’t do it.<\/p>\n

Both front and rear plates must be reflective. The front plate must have black characters on a white background and the rear plate must have black characters on a yellow background.<\/p>\n
