The DVLA have recently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-2380745\/DVLA-tax-discs-Tall-stories-paying-car-tax-include-man-took-Viagra-leave-house.html\">complied a list <\/a>of their top ten excuses for not paying their road tax with the top excuse being &#8220;My accountant told me I&#8217;m due a tax rebate so I didn&#8217;t think I needed to pay again this year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The DVLA recently published a list of excuses that were given to them as to why road tax had not been paid and the list ranged from &#8216;having the man-flu&#8217; to the old classic &#8216;my dog ate the paperwork&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Carolyn Williams, DVLA\u2019s head of digital services, said: \u2018The vast majority of people tax their car on time but it amazes me to see the excuses people come up with.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It\u2019s easier than ever before for people to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/tax-disc\">tax their car<\/a> and our digital services are designed to be used any time of day or night to fit in with people\u2019s lifestyles &#8211; so there really is no need for silly excuses.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>If a vehicle has not been road taxed or declared off the road (SORN) the vehicle owner will face a fine.
