But within six weeks, he received a letter from the DVLA stating that his plate was &#8216;causing offence&#8217; and that he had to remove the registration.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Clark is baffled and would like to know what offence he is committing, as the DVLA have yet to inform him. He has a receipt for the number, along with V5C document for his vehicle, both issued by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.speedyreg.co.uk\/dvla-auction\">DVLA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The DVLA have now issued his vehicle with a normal issue number, which he has returned back to them as he is not willing to accept it.<\/p>\n<p>The DVLA issued the following statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8216;DVLA tries to identify combinations that may cause offence, and on the rare occasion where potentially offensive numbers slip through the net, steps are taken to withdraw the registration number. &#8216;This particular registration plate has been withdrawn, therefore it is an offence for the driver to still be displaying it.
