As he flicked through the pages he came across the Car Clinic, in the In Gear Section, where a member of the public had asked how to transfer his registration. Luckily for Des he wasn\u2019t eating at the time and he may have chocked on the reply:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>\u201cFirst fill in form V317 to transfer the numberplate from your old car to the new one, then two V62 forms to apply for the new log books for both cars with their new registration numbers. Send the forms and \u00a380 transfer fee to your Local DVLA Office along with MOT Certificates\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The above reply which was featured in last week\u2019s Sunday Times was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>NOT<\/strong><\/span> correct, I repeat <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>NOT<\/strong> <\/span>correct. The advice that should have been given is:<\/p>\n<p>Either bring OR Post the following documents to your Local DVLA Office:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>V317 Transfer Form completed and signed in Section 2 and Section 3<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>V5C \u2013 Vehicle Registrations Certificate for the Donor vehicle<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>MOT Certificate \u2013 MOT Certificate (if vehicle is over 3 years old) for the Donor vehicle<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Photocopy of Road Tax Disc for the Donor vehicle<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>V5C \u2013 Vehicle Registrations Certificate for the Receiving vehicle<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>MOT Certificate \u2013 MOT Certificate (if vehicle is over 3 years old) for the Receiving vehicle<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Photocopy of Road Tax Disc for the Receiving vehicle<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Cheque for \u00a380 made payable to DOT as payment of the Transfer Fee<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Donor vehicle is the vehicle that holds the registration number you would like transferred. The Receiving vehicle is the vehicle that you would like the registration transferred to.
