Of course\ntaxing your car is a legal requirement, yet some people will still try to avoid\nit. The DVLA have released some of the more \u2018interesting\u2019 reasons people have\ngiven for not taxing their vehicles. As you may gather, none of them were in\nany way valid!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>I\u2019m about to start a prison sentence, so is\nthere any way you could hang on to my ice cream van for six months \u2018til I get\nout?<\/li><li>I would\u2019ve taxed my van but my bitter ex put\nfour live chickens in it<\/li><li>I know it was untaxed, but I didn\u2019t think you\u2019d\nclamp cars in a heatwave<\/li><li>I forgot to tax it as I was looking after the\nkids (aged 19 and 26)<\/li><li>I couldn\u2019t tax my car as I\u2019ve had man flu and\nhave been stuck in bed for 4 weeks<\/li><li>I would\u2019ve taxed the car, but you clamped it so\nearly in the morning (the car was clamped at lunchtime)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Taxing your car is so easy these days, it can all be done very quickly and simply online so there\u2019s no excuse that\u2019s going to wash with the DVLA, but for fun, we\u2019ve been round the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.speedyreg.co.uk\/\">Speedy Reg<\/a> offices and asked everyone to come up with some more crazy excuses and here\u2019s what we came up with\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>I asked the wife to get car tax, she\u2019s a bit\ndeaf and got carpet tacks instead<\/li><li>I didn\u2019t think you needed car tax now we\u2019re not\nin the EU<\/li><li>The shops had sold out of 2020 calendars so I\ndidn\u2019t know what date it was <\/li><li>&nbsp;I wanted\nto ring up and sort this out but I became a monk and make a vow of silence <\/li><li>My wife found out I was having an affair and\nburned all my paperwork<\/li><li>The voices in my head told me not to do it<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So you can have your excuses at the ready, but they\u2019re not\ngoing to work.
