Teacher Twilight: Cars – Accelerating the Modern World<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s an amazing new exhibit coming to the Victoria & Albert Museum and it\u2019s all about cars. Titled \u2018Cars: Accelerating the Modern World<\/em>\u2019 this exhibition takes a close look at the 130 year history of the motor car. Here you can discover how the car has revolutionised manufacturing and transformed our everyday lives. From the economy to the environment, every impact of the motor car can be examined with this innovative, fascinating and thought provoking exhibit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re a teacher planning to bring your students to view\nthe exhibit, or are simply interested in knowing more to pass that knowledge on\nin the classroom, then this event is for you. Teacher Twilight is a chance for\nall educators to visit the exhibition and learn all about it in advance of a\nvisit. In a calm environment, with a glass of wine, the expert curatorial team\nwill talk you through the exhibition and answer any questions you may have.\nIt\u2019s a fabulous opportunity to get a real insight into this brilliant topic\nthat\u2019s bound to engage kids of all ages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event takes place on Friday 6th<\/sup> December from\n17:45 to 20:30 in Seminar Room 1, South Kensington. Tickets cost \u00a35 and must be\nbooked in advance and can be purchased online. Both primary and secondary\nschool educators are welcome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course the Cars: Accelerating the Modern World<\/em>\nexhibit is going to be a big draw to the public in general. If you\u2019d like to\nvisit, you can see it at The Sainsbury Gallery until 19th<\/sup> April\n2020. Tickets cost \u00a318 with under 11s free. V&A members also get free\naccess to this and other exhibitions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Features of the exhibition <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cars: Accelerating the Modern World<\/em> tells the story\nof 15 different cars from their initial design, to the impact they had on the\nworld. From concept cars to flying cars, these vehicles are going to wow and\namaze. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Car subcultures: dekotora, lowriders, and ‘spinning’ <\/em>Watch\nthree short films discovering a world of cars in subcultures. Japanese\ndecorated trucks, American low riders and the South African spinning craze will\nall be featured. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evolution of European motorways 1920 \u2013 2020 <\/em>Our\ncars are nothing without our roads, and this \npart of the exhibition show how the motorways of Europe have evolved to\naccommodate the ever increasing numbers of vehicles on our highways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The car: petrol, power & pollution <\/em>This part of\nthe exhibition focuses on fuel and the environment. Taking a look back at the\npast, and a glimpse into the future. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
