Historic Rally Driver, Simon Webster – Speedyreg<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

As you probably know, SpeedyReg<\/a> sponsors historic rally driver Simon Webster and we were lucky enough to have a chat with him. We were interested to discover what sent Simon on his path to being a rally driver and he told us that his love of motor sport was passed down the family from his dad who had always been into karting and motor sport in general when Simon was young. Aged 14 Simon got a Saturday job at a local garage and the garage owner had his own rally cars and took a young Simon to watch a rally. He loved the thrill of it and so from that moment on he was hooked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also reminisced about how we got to know Simon in the\nfirst place. The story begins back in the early 90s when Simon used to import\nmotorbikes, and as we store many of our stock plates on bikes, we used to buy\nthem from Simon on a regular basis. Over time we all became friends and when\nSimon mentioned he was taking part in rallying, we were keen to get on board as\na sponsor. The rest is history!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We talked about his upcoming rally in Filey, Yorkshire and found it rather ironic that his two main rivals, Stanley Orr and Adrian Hetherington both come from Ulster, the home of SpeedyReg<\/a>! Regarding tactics for the Filey rally, Simon only has the one, and that\u2019s to go flat out! It\u2019s a fast course and with his talented co-driver he expects to hit speeds of well over 100mph. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When he\u2019s not focused on rallying, Simon says he enjoys\ncycling and he tries to get to the gym as often as possible. Of course both of\nthese hobbies put him in top condition for the rally driving which is a great\nincentive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We asked Simon if he\u2019d ever have a private registration plate on a rally car and he\u2019s certainly considering it for a new rally car he\u2019s working on. We let him know that we\u2019ve got JEZ 111<\/a> available, which would be perfect for his co-pilot Jez Rogers! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking to the future, Simon hopes to keep rallying well into the future, making the most of rallying in the UK but also looking further afield to rallying abroad. It was lovely to catch up with Simon and we wish him and Jez all the very best of luck for the race in Filey this weekend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
