Other tracks were\nused over the preceding years, Mosport and Circuit Mont-Tremblant but safety\nconcerns were an issue and a new circuit needed to be found. The current\nlocation is on a man-made island in the St Lawrence River. The site was\noriginally developed for the 1967 Expo 67 World\u2019s Fair and to host the 1967\nMontreal Summer Olympics. When these events were over, it made sense to\nrepurpose the land and so the newly laid roads of this island were turned into\nthe race track. The track was originally named the Circuit Ile Notre-Dame but\nwhen Gilles Villeneuve won the race, the track was then named after him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A great Grand Prix to attend <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watching a Grand Prix live is an amazing experience, the\nsounds and the atmosphere really can\u2019t be conveyed through the TV screen. If\nyou only ever go to one Grand Prix, this is certainly one to consider. Montreal\nlocals love their Grand Prix and the entire city turns into a Formula One\nthemed party for the week before the race. My personal favourite is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.speedyreg.co.uk\/number-plates-info\/321-GP\">321 GP<\/a><\/strong>, but you could also have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.speedyreg.co.uk\/number-plates-info\/444-GP\">444 GP<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.speedyreg.co.uk\/number-plates-info\/999-GP\">999 GP<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.speedyreg.co.uk\/number-plates-info\/1100-GP\">1100 GP<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.speedyreg.co.uk\/number-plates-info\/8080-GP\">8080 GP<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.speedyreg.co.uk\/number-plates-info\/GP-2383\">GP 2383<\/a>.
