We\u2019re certainly having a fabulous summer of sport this year, with some edge-of-your-seat World Cup matches, the perfect weather for strawberries and cream at Wimbledon, and now we\u2019ve got the Golf Open Championship to enjoy!<\/p>\n

The tournament returns to Carnoustie Golf Links this year, for the first time in 11 years. The golf course has been made ready and also, a Golf Course Algae Treatment<\/a> was carried out on it. This will be the 8th<\/sup> time the event has been held at Carnoustie. The prize fund for 2018 has increased by $250,000 to $10.5m. You may be wondering why the sums are listed in dollars and not in pounds sterling. Winners are now paid in dollars after the fall in the value of the pound.<\/p>\n

When to watch<\/strong><\/p>\n

There will be coverage on Sky Sports Golf from July 16th<\/sup> so you can enjoy plenty of build up before the first match on Thursday. On Thursday and Friday you can start watching from 6.30am on Sky Sports Golf and Sky Sports Main Event. On Saturday coverage begins at 9.00am and at 8.00 on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Who will win?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Well of course we can\u2019t tell you that, but the favourites are Dustin Johnson with the odds currently at 10\/1, followed by Rory McIlroy at 12\/1, current champion Jordan Spieth at 14\/1, Justin Rose at 16\/1 and Rickie Fowler and Tommy Fleetwood both with odds of 18\/1.<\/p>\n
