Yes, it\u2019s finally here, National Beer Day \u2013 Cheers! No, don\u2019t worry, I haven\u2019t had any beer yet. You wouldn\u2019t want me to be drunk in charge of a blog. I might start telling jokes and you really don\u2019t want that. Trust me. But, after work, I\u2019ll be leaving the car at home and heading out for a pint, or maybe two, of refreshing, beautiful beer to celebrate National Beer Day!<\/p>\n

So what\u2019s National Beer Day all about?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Well it\u2019s all pretty simple. The point of National Beer Day is to raise the profile of beer as Britain\u2019s national drink and to celebrate the brewers and the long history of beer in this country.<\/p>\n

A tale of ale<\/strong><\/p>\n

Want to know why June 15th<\/sup> has been chosen as National Beer Day? Well it\u2019s pretty interesting. The date is the same date that the Magna Carta was sealed in 1215. What\u2019s the significance of that? Well\u00a0\u00a0 it\u2019s because the Magna Carta actually mentioned beer!<\/p>\n

‘Let there be throughout our kingdom a single measure for wine and a single<\/strong><\/p>\n

measure for ale<\/strong> and a single measure for corn, namely the London quarter\u2019.<\/p>\n

It just goes to show what an important role beer has played in society for hundreds of years.<\/p>\n

The good news \u2013 it\u2019s actually a beer weekend!<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s called Beer Day, but the festivities will continue all weekend up to and including Father\u2019s Day on June 17th<\/sup>. A great excuse to take your dad out for a beer, or talk your son or daughter into buying you a pint.<\/p>\n

There will be loads of events running all over the country. Bars and beer retailers will be putting on something special with festivals, tasting events and special offers. Several breweries are inventing new special beers just for the occasion, so it\u2019ll be a chance to sample something new. So ask around and see what\u2019s going on in your area. If all else fails, why not throw a beer party at home?<\/p>\n
