Free Methods to Stop Number Plate Thieves
Tamper proof screws have been around for a while, but now the Safer Communities Partnership have teamed up with a garage to replace peoples normal, easy-to-remove screws with tamper proof screws
Due to an increase in the theft of number plates, anybody living in Witney or West Oxfordshire can take advantage of a scheme that allows them to protect the number plates on their car for free. They can simply drive in and have their old screws switched for tamper-proof ones.
The screws are incredibly hard to undo, and will provide another level of deterrence to would-be registration plate thieves. People will be able to take advantage of this scheme until the end of December, but if its successful in stopping number plate theft, it may be rolled out in far more areas.
